Things To Do / What to do, Over The Labour Day October Long Weekend In and Out of Sydney

Monday 3rd October is Labour Day, a public holiday! After a long winter the long weekend is back!

Things To Do in Sydney Over The October Long Weekend

If you really aren’t that keen on joining the potentially slow migration of out of Sydney, there is an alternative. You don’t have to go far to have a good time and doesn't have to cost much. It's a long weekend, make the most of it.

The Crave Sydney International Food Festival - 1st to 31st October 2011

Do you like food? The Crave Sydney International Food Festival has a lot on its plate this year. With hundreds of individual event listings, it will be Sydney's biggest food month ever.

Highlights include dining with lions, which hopefully doesn't mean all the food will be "roar", 100-mile meals, the huge World Chef Showcase and the hugely popular Night Noodle Markets.

Breakfast on the Bridge? Not this Year

The unique and popular Breakfast on the (Sydney Harbour) Bridge has been replaced by breakfast in Bondi. Not quite the same, well not even close really but should still be good. There is loads more and not everything is in the city so check out the link and movie below. You might not have far to go to get some yummy Crave 'in'.

The October Long Weekend North of Sydney

If you fancy a short trip north, perhaps an enticing glass of wine might be in order:

The Vintage Markets - Hunter Valley - Sunday 2nd October 2011 9am - 2pm

The Vintage Markets offer up a great excuse, if you need one, to visit the Hunter Valley on the Sunday of the Labour Day long weekend. With Monday being a public holiday you can enjoy yourself on the Sunday and chill out on the Monday. The Vintage markets are located in the heart of the Hunter Valley wine region, allowing you try a few wines before and after your trip to the stalls.

At the Hunter Valley Vintage Markets you can expect to find cheeses, breads, dukkah, tapenades, olives, olive oils, organic products, smoked fish, cold meats, chocolates, fudges, jams, lavender products, handmade natural soaps & more. Bring a picnic basket to fill with your favourite treats & make a day of it whilst enjoying the complimentary family entertainment.

Things to do West of Sydney (Blue Mountains) Over The October Long Weekend

Go West. Head for The Blue Mountains. For families, a small tip if I may, visit the Toy Museum at Hazelbrook and the nearby Wentworth Lake for a great playground and kiddies 'Pirate Ship' with some pleasant water views for the upgrowns.

You could also visit Thomas and Friends at the foot of mountains near Penrith. I believe they also plan to have helicopter rides on one day of the long weekend.
