Archibald Prize Winning Entry

This years Archibald Prize winning entry is Ben Quilty's portrait of Margaret Olley. The portrait pays tribute to one of the biggest names in Australian art and beat 800 other entries in the process.

Powerhouse Museum

Powerhouse Museum

The Powerhouse is, well, a powerhouse of things to do on a normal day, on a school holiday, it is hard to know how they pack it all in. You can even have fun activities, great games and clever craft for children to make and do at home - so you don't even need to visit the Powerhouse to enjoy the Powerhouse - alternatively, you can stay overnight.

The Powerhouse is a playground, a playhouse, a magic garden, a space lab in fact the Powerhouse has something for everyone, even Mum and Dad - you just need to look. The best place to start is the Powerhouse website.

Check out your local library

Penrith Library wins the prize for best for kids including reptile and magic shows. Most libraries will be conducting some kind of kid activities over the holidays even if its just story telling. Check out yours for details.

City of Sydney Libraries have a range of activities on offer in April, including a short film festival, architecture talk and local heritage tours.

Get out of Sydney

I guess we all need a change of scene sometimes. Go on an adventure. Head north out of Sydney and get the bonus of marginally warmer weather.

The sad end of the Easter Holidays

And so the Easter Holidays come to an end. Winter is approaching and all there is is work and more work. The days are drawing in - where is the light at the end of tunnel? What is there to look forward to? We are kidding, right? Absolutely:
