North
of Sydney
Sydney's
Great Get Aways
Where
should you go North of Sydney
Hunter Valley
As though Sydney isn't blessed
enough we have the beautiful Hunter Valley Wineries just two and half
hours north of Sydney. Advisable to overnight, get someone else to drive
or join a Hunter Valley tour. Beautiful scenery, lovely hospitality and
the wine's not bad either. Visit the smaller Hunter Valley wineries for
more personal service and unique wines. Some, if not most, of the wines
sold by the larger concerns in the Hunter Valley are retailed in Sydney
at below cellar door prices.
Wine, Cheese, Chocolate, Champagne
Hunter Valley Tour
They
have them over a barrel
Let someone else do the driving
as you tour through the Hunter! Not just a wine tour, this full-day experience
will introduce you to a selection of the best wineries, chocolate, cheese,
champagne and liqueur houses!
Scenic Wine Tasting Tour
Drink
in the scenery
There is more to the Hunter
Valley than wine. This tour aims to give you a taste of everything.
Hunter Valley
Enjoy a full, most complete
tour to the Hunter Valley. More experiences than anyone else. Departing
from Sydney, you are taken on a unique circle route with different scenery
both ways, promising great scenic views, extensive commentary, convict
history and wildlife.
The Central Coast
Just north of Sydney is the
blue green Central Coast with its picturesque hills, magnificent coastal
scenery and it is easily day tripable from Sydney.
Quad
Bike Adventure
Almost
Sydney Quad Biking
Riding through bushland and
open paddocks in these powerful little machines will get your pulse going
and put a wide smile on your face. Go as slow or as fast as you like but
follow your guides instructions as the Quad Bikes are heavy and can hurt
you if you mess about.
Port Dolphins, sorry,
Port Stephens

Numerous Port Stephens boats
have nets you can climb into to get a little closer to the dolphins. Most
of the boats are run out of Nelson Bay. And as a bonus – Port Stephens
has small but beautiful white sandy beaches and is really quite
stunning. It is also a great place for a swim - just remember, don't swim
alone:
The Mid North Coast
Stretching from Port Macquarie
to Grafton is an area of NSW commonly referred to as the Mid North Coast.
This fairly unimaginable name belies the fact that this is an area of
outstanding beauty and crammed packed with fun things to do.
Coffs Harbour
In between Port Macquarie and
Grafton is Coffs Harbour, the Big Banana, it is a good place to base yourself
for a few days. Coffs is a good five hour drive from Sydney.
South West Rocks
What do you have to look forward
to? Great beaches, lovely rural views, attractive farming communities
and beautiful landscapes (particularly around South West Rocks). It appears
that the Mid North Coast's main purpose for being is just to make us happy.
Hat Head National Park
Hat Head National Park is
one of many great spots you should visit and provides fabulous backdrop
to the little coastal resort of Hat Head. Hat Head is also home to the
Smoky Cape Lighthouse, the tallest in NSW.
Bellingen and Dorrigo
Inland you should visit Bellingen,
for its artiness and craftiness and Dorrigo for its mountain scenery and
waterfalls. North West of Bellingen is a special little place that's been
making a really big splash.
Nymboida - Pub and Museum
of Interesting Things
The pub at Nymboida in Nymboida
Village has a great view of the river and the intriguing "Museum
of Interesting Things". In case you wonder about the Police Station
at Nymboida (what's that doing there? etc) it was built a very long time
ago but rarely sees a policeman. But none of this is the real reason you
should visit Nymboida.
Whitewater Rafting at Nymboida
Nymboida River - one of the
world's classic rivers
Splashing
fun - White Water Rafting
You can look forward to dramatic
granite gorges and rainforest-lined banks of the rugged Nymboida River.
The river produces rapids renowned among white water enthusiasts. Before
getting wet you get to enjoy a two-hour scenic drive that climbs 700 meters
through the forests of the Eastern Dorrigo. The main event is a four-hour
raft that covers nine kilometres of the upper Nymboida river over rapids
up to grade 4-5. Are you up to 'Lucifers Leap', 'Devils 1 & 2' and
the 'Decapitator 7 Elkhorn Passage'?
Minimum age is 14 years. You
need to bring swimwear, towel, sunscreen & footware such as trainers
to wear into the river (they will get wet). All other equipment is supplied
as is morning tea, snacks at lunch on the river and a meal at the completion
of the tour.
