21 Bondi Beach

The Peoples Beach. Bondi Beach is home to a diverse crowd, and Bondi can get crowded at times. Cafes and drinks are available by the Pavilion. When its open, the Bondi Pavilion Balcony is a neat place to watch the waves, wavers and other passerbys. There is a bar upstairs allowing you to take drinks out onto the balcony but opening times vary.

The Bondi Pavilion has exhibits and show plays, particularly during the Sydney Festival. Some are fun and some aren't but they are often short and you can take your drinks in with you.

If you want to try your hand at surfing why not learn how to at Bondi Beach:

Bondi Beach Surf Experience - 2 Hour Session

Surfing at Bondi BeachSurfing Bondi

Recommended by: Sydney Top Ten - The Guardian (UK) and
What's Doing in Sydney, The New York Times.

This popular beginner surf session teaches you how to safely get out and up onto your first wave.

Here you'll be taught in a small group setting of 6 students or less, so you get plenty of hands-on help.

To build up your knowledge and confidence, we first start you out on the beach and teach you how to recognize surf conditions and practice your surfing technique before you get into the water.

Then it's off into the ocean, where you start off in broken waves - the white foam created after the waves run their course.

You'll be amazed at how easy, safe and enjoyable it can be to learn to surf.

Alternatively you could just have a splash in the Bondi waves and try your body at body surfing. If you have no inclination to get wet you can just stroll on or along side the beach (but really should give surfing a try whilst you're here..)

22 Walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach

The walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach is another classic. Walk from Bondi to Coogee Beach and be greeted by fantastic views, beautiful beaches, cliffs and even an old cemetery (Waverley) with unimpeded views out to sea. Tamarama (Glamarama so they say), one of the places you will come across, has a café very close to the beach and is a good spot to rest along the way. Allow three to four hours and take your time. Note the lack of fences between Bondi and Coogee Beaches so please keep a close reign on the kiddies.

23 Sexy Coogee Beach

Visit Coogee Beach - the backpacker capital of the world!! Well sometimes Coogee feels like it. Apart from beach itself, Coogee has great views and walks to either Bronte/Bondi or Maroubra.

For a view whilst munching head for the southern end of Coogee Beach for breakfast and lunch. Be prepared to wait for a table if you arrive after 10am at weekends.

On the north side of Coogee Beach you’ll find the Beach Palace Hotel. If you can still do it without paying, climb to the top bar of the Beach Palace Hotel, get a cold drink and sit yourself down on the veranda and enjoy the view out to sea and across Coogee Beach. Ah..the way life is meant to be - no worries.

For music fans the Coogee Bay and Beach Palace Hotels cater for you with all kinds provided it's loud and usually involves jumping around a lot. For the brave there's a kebab shop directly opposite the Coogee Bay Hotel open till very late.

25 Hunter Valley

As though Sydney isn't blessed enough we have the beautiful Hunter Valley Wineries just two and half hours north of Sydney. Advisable to overnight, get someone else to drive or join a Hunter Valley tour. Beautiful scenery, lovely hospitality and the wine's not bad either. Visit the smaller Hunter Valley wineries for more personal service and unique wines. Some, if not most, of the wines sold by the larger concerns in the Hunter Valley are retailed in Sydney at below cellar door prices.

I’m not all that keen on tours either but visiting the Hunter Valley might be the time you make an exception unless you do have a nominated/tea total driver.

Hunter Valley Wine Tour

Hunter Valley WineriesWine Tasting - Hunter Valley

Eat, drink and be merry at the wineries and restaurants of the Hunter Valley, just 2 hours to the north of Sydney!

This is the perfect day tour from Sydney - an opportunity to get off the beaten track and see the local countryside, sample the local wines and produce and even see the local wildlife.

Travel in the comfort of our limo equipped Mercedes Tourer, with an expert guide to tell you about Australian wines, regions and history along the way.

You'll be travelling as part of a small group (maximum 14 people) allowing us the opportunity to be flexible and customise the tour to you.

We have access to many of the small boutique wineries of the region, as well as larger vineyards such as Lindemans, Rosemount and McWilliams

We start the day with a guided tour of the wine making facilities of a boutique winery followed by an extensive tasting.

Then you can visit a wide range of quality wineries, large or small, according to your preferences. Or rely on our expert knowledge and experience to guide you.

There are also options for cheese or chocolate tasting, gallery visits and more.

At lunch time, indulge in a 2 course gourmet lunch at an award winning restaurant with your choice of entrées, main courses and desserts, plus a complementary glass of wine; or take our alternate option of more casual dining at a local cafe. Please select your meal option when booking.

Our Mercedes vehicle has been equipped to make your tour pleasant and safe: full seat belts; top of the range seats with head support; video and onboard television, with a video about Australian wine-making along the way; a bar fridge to keep your wine or cheese purchases cool; and split level air conditioning to keep you cool as well!

Travelling as part of a small group you can share the day with other international and Australian revellers. As you know, people, not just places, can make the day.

Personal pick ups from your Sydney accommodation are also part of the service.
