Hawkesbury
International Sand Sculpting Championships - Windsor to 29th January
Sand Sculptures are
becoming more and more popular and the competition to win, the Hawkesbury
International Sand Sculpting Championships, is gritty. The theme of the
competition is ‘Mystical Creatures’ and the competition entries
will be on display so you can wander through the event at your leasure.
Two sculptors will be on site creating display pieces of 50-60 tonnes
of sand so you can see how it is done. In addition to the sculptures there
will be stuff for the kids including sand sculpting workshops, sand art
and sand bottles.

the performers were drowned out…they were, however, able to keep
the kids in stitches, no matter the volume…’ – THE HERALD"

The Powerhouse is
not running a School Holiday program this year :-( This does not mean
that there is nothing in the Powerhouse for the kids to do. Far from it.
We have two major kid friendly exhibitions, The Wiggles and Harry Potter,
both in the same location (you may need to book to see Mr Potter). This
is a big plus if you have a mix of young, and not so young, children.
Test them on their negotiation skills..
Kids in the Park
has over 50 activities to choose from. Much is free, less costs $20 or
so but not much more. There are various clinics, camps and workshops for
kids who want to develop skills in sports, writing, filmmaking, dancing
and more.
One of Australia's
largest health-and-fitness companies is encouraging teenagers to keep
active during the school holidays with a challenging program. The Fitness
First Initiative for Teens - throughout the holidays, gives teenagers
free access to gym equipment and group fitness classes. FFIT Holidays
participants need to bring in a pre-exercise form signed by a parent or
guardian. Forms can be collected from any Fitness First or downloaded
from their web site. Once registered, students receive a FFIT Holidays
membership card for the holiday period. For more

Sydney Harbour Bridge - A
good looker whatever the weather
Climb The Sydney Harbour Bridge
Pylon
The Sydney Harbour
Bridge Pylon is great value and packed full of great information and 200
steps. You will be rewarded at the top with a great view of the Sydney
Opera House so unless it is really chucking it down its well worth taking
steps to see it. The kids will enjoy the climb and the view but you might
miss out on much of the info.
Take the kids down
to your local $2 shop. Let them spend a few bucks on cards, stickers and
the like and hey presto! Homemade Thank You, Birthday or any kind of Greeting
Card you can think of. Give a prize to whoever writes the most / best
/ most colourful creation. I'm sure Grandma or Pa or Aunt or Uncle would
be thrilled to receive one and the kids could be entertained, for, well,
maybe a while actually (if you get lucky).
